Obituary for Donald G. Riesenberg

Donald G. Riesenberg
Ret. Master Chief Donald G. Riesenberg, 83, of Caseyville, IL, born Monday, August 13, 1934 in Cincinnati, OH passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Cedarhurst of Shiloh in Shiloh, IL.

Don retired as a Naval Reserves Master Chief. He was a proud Naval Academy Blue and Gold officer. He had a PHD in Poultry Nutrition and his Master’s in Organic Chemistry. Don founded Brookside Agra, an international specialty feed ingredient company, in 1985. He was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church in Troy, IL and the American Legion Post 439 in Highland, IL. He was lover of cars and had a special place in his heart for vintage classics. Everybody who knew Don knew how much he adored his grandchildren. He loved nothing more than going and watching them play sports, spoiling them with treats, and overall just being the best grandpa/papa that he could be. Don will be remembered for his huge generosity, giving heart, thoughtful mind, and Christian way of life. Everybody who knew and loved Don will always remember him as the best husband, dad, grandfather/papa, great-grandfather, and friend one could have.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Donna Riesenberg, nee Thompson; and brother, Pete Riesenberg.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Ann Riesenberg, nee Alemond; nine children, Karen (Gerald) Kelly, Jr. of Milton, MA, Laura (Kim) Cwick of Smyrna, GA, Don (Paddie) Riesenberg, Jr. of North Reading, MD, Janice (John) Stevanovic of Speedway, IN, Steve (Jill) Riesenberg of Bloomington, IL, Lisa (Tim) Gaffney of O’Fallon, IL, Courtney (Craig) Vaninger of McPherson, KS, Chad (Angie) Vaninger of Caseyville, IL, Amanda (Kelton) Vaninger of O’Fallon, IL; one brother, Alvin (Pat) Riesenberg of Cincinnati, OH; twenty-two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
